Los Angeles ISPI (International Society for Performance Improvement)
Our mission is to extend the state of our art by facilitating seminars in which our members expand their
knowledge of current trends and proven wisdom concerning:
  • Instructional design
  • Organizational development
  • Project management
  • Performance improvement
Seminars usually include two presentations, and most presenters have earned a national reputation. Presentations typically include ample opportunity to ask questions and to interact with presenters and other members of the audience.
Four seminars are held most years, on Saturday mornings, at various locations around the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Members may attend at no additional cost. Breakfast and lunch is included. Non-members may attend by paying a nominal fee.
The tone of our events is friendly and relaxed. The dress is business-casual. There is plenty of time to network, to learn from each other, and to help one another in our careers, especially during the times set aside for breakfast and lunch.
It is a volunteer organization, and you are encouraged to become involved on the board of directors or to take on other responsibilities for keeping our chapter going.
Although we are proud to be affiliated with the international ISPI organization, you do not need to belong to ISPI in order to join ISPI-LA. We are autonomous. Your dues are paid directly to the chapter and are used only to finance chapter events and activities.

Who Belongs to ISPI?
Most members are established professionals pursuing careers in performance improvement, or students and recent graduates with an interest in getting their careers off to a strong start.
Our membership includes both internal full-time employees, and external independent consultants and contractors. Members work in a variety of settings, including business, academia, government, health services, banking, and the armed forces.
Additional Meetings
ISPI-LA members are also invited to attend, at no additional cost, meetings of two ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) special interest groups; one in Pasadena, the other in Manhattan Beach. Email announcements for these meetings are sent to members only.

San Gabriel Valley Saturday Meeting:
Addressing a range of issues of interest to anyone working in organizational development or performance improvement, these Saturday meetings are held approximately every six weeks and feature a well-respected presenter, group discussion, and networking opportunities. Coffee is provided and everyone is encouraged to bring breakfast snacks to share. The group usually meets for a non-hosted lunch afterwards.

LA South Bay Training Managers' Breakfast:
Meets the third Friday of every month (except August). Topics and speakers change monthly - with a clear emphasis on issues of interest to training managers and external consultants. The meetings are friendly, interactive, and focused on professional development in our field of performance improvement. Meetings end by 9:00 am - so the rest of your day is still open.

The Larger ISPI
Founded in 1962, the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) is the leading international association dedicated to improving productivity and performance in the workplace. ISPI represents more than 10,000 international and chapter members throughout the United States, Canada, and 40 other countries.
ISPI's mission is to develop and recognize the proficiency of our members and advocate the use of Human Performance Technology. Assembling an Annual Conference & Expo and other educational events like the Institute, publishing books and periodicals, and supporting research are some of the ways ISPI works toward achieving this mission.
