Welcome to ISPI of Greater LA!
If you're considering joining as a member,
you may want to consider "dual citizenship" by also joining our
sister chapter in Orange County.
- ISPI-LA annual membership dues of $60 for all of 2010, which includes our four chapter seminar meetings - totally FREE to current members!
- Or, you can simultaneously join both ISPI-LA and our great sister chapter ISPI-Orange County (www.ispioc.org) for a $90 annual membership dues to both chapters.
- For more details, go click on the "Join" tab at the top of the page.
ISPI stands for International Society for Performance
Improvement. But our chapter is really about managers, trainers, instructional
designers, coaches, and professionals like you who want to continue to grow in their
field, to get new job opportunities, to network with other key folks, and
to just plain have fun in the process.
Each year, we host four get-togethers that are free for our
Members, as well as other educational meetings. Our meetings are usually on a
Saturday (avoiding LA weekday traffic) and include two world-class presentations
along with breakfast, coffee, lunch, and more fun.
As you probably already know, ISPI-LA is an
all volunteer organization. We exist only because volunteers on
our Board of Directors make things happen. And here's a secret
between you and me (and the other couple billion users of the
Internet), volunteering with ISPI-LA is not about being a
"do-gooder."
Rather, associating or volunteering with ISPI-LA
is about seriously taking your professional career to the next
level on several levels...and having some fun along the way.
(I told you we're big on "fun!") When you're interested in
exploring if this might be a good-fit for you, I'd suggest you
just ask any Board member WHAT they do and WHY they do it. Just
listen to what they say and judge for yourself.
At each chapter meeting, you'll probably meet
some of our current volunteer Board. And you may even run into
some of the past Board members who made a great contribution to
our chapter.
For me, when I think of the current ISPI-LA
chapter, I think of an organization that is creatively reinventing
itself - member by member & day by day. I think of an organization
that provides an effective support network in a world where rules
keep changing and a downsizing can be just an email away.
Personally, I like associating with an organization of professionals
who are personally dedicated to similar objectives - with whom I can share.
But what about you? What are you doing to
fulfill your own professional dreams and plans? What support
network of working professionals do you utilize to help you?
Do you want to actively manage your career and your professional
development? Or, is your objective just to move from opportunity
to opportunity? Many decisions, many choices....
If any of us at ISPI-LA can help you with
any of your choices, let us know.
One of my anti-hero's, Bob Dylan, put it
succinctly, "....he (or she) not busy being born, is busy dying."
